One of my favorite moments at every wolf retreat happens on the very first day.

It isn’t when people first see the wolves. It isn’t when they hear them howl.

It isn’t even when they stand quietly taking in the beauty, power, and presence of these magnificent beings.

It happens when someone receives information from a wolf and realizes they didn’t make it up.

Almost every time, the response is similar. A smile. A look of surprise. Sometimes tears. And expressions like, “Really?”, “Wow!”

For many people, this is their first day they have consciously communicated with an animal. They may receive an image, a feeling, a word, a memory, a sensation in their body, or simply a knowing that seems to arrive out of nowhere.

What amazes me is that many of these same people arrive believing they can’t do it. They tell me they have never communicated with an animal before. They aren’t intuitive.

They don’t trust themselves. They think everyone else will be able to receive information except them.

Then the wolves have something to say, such as Shasta, the matriarch of Howlers Inn, pictured above.

One of the greatest gifts of the retreat is that participants begin practicing their intuitive abilities with animals of fellow attendees and the wolves from the very first day. Through guided exercises, support, and a willingness to simply be present, people often discover that they are receiving far more information than they ever realized.

The wolves are patient teachers.

They don’t care whether you have years of experience or none at all. They don’t care whether you call yourself intuitive. They simply meet you where you are.

What often surprises people is that this retreat is not really about becoming someone new.

It is about remembering. Remembering how to listen. Remembering how to trust. Remembering that intuition is a natural part of being human.

Again and again, I watch people begin trusting themselves in ways they never have before.

Dana, an end-of-life doula, shared that she was “totally new to animal communication and the various energy work techniques” we explored during the retreat. By the end of the experience, she described it as “life changing.” She went on to say that no matter a person’s level of experience, they can be empowered through the process.

Kristin was also very new to animal communication. One of her favorite discoveries was realizing that she could actually do it. She wrote that she was “so thrilled” to have telepathically connected with cats, dogs, and of course, the wolves.

Not everyone who attends arrives believing they can communicate with animals.

In fact, Shari openly shared that she had never been one to believe in meditation or communication with animals. Yet after her experience with the wolves, she wrote, “You CAN do what you never thought possible.”The wolves offer their incredible support and connection throughout the retreat, even when we are gathering indoors.

I love these stories because they remind us of something important.

The wolves are not giving people abilities they don’t already possess. The wolves are helping people recognize abilities that have been there all along.

What begins with the wolves rarely ends with the wolves.

As participants strengthen their ability to receive information from the wolves, they often discover that the same skills support them in many other areas of life.

They begin trusting their inner knowing. They deepen their connection with animals. They notice guidance from nature.

They strengthen their relationship with God/Source, spirit, allies, or their higher self. They become more aware of the quiet wisdom that has always been available to them.

The wolves simply help them recognize it.

Perhaps this is one reason wolves have been such powerful teachers throughout time.

They remind us that there is more to life than what we can see with our physical eyes. They remind us that communication is far greater than words.

And they remind us that some of the most important conversations happen in silence.

This November will be my sixth Call of the Wolf retreat. Every year I watch people arrive with different backgrounds, beliefs, experiences, and expectations.

Some come because they have loved wolves their entire lives. Some may even have a fear of canines. Others arrive feeling curious, uncertain, or simply unable to ignore the call they feel in their heart.

What they often leave with is something much deeper than they anticipated.

Not because of anything I do. But because the wolves have a remarkable way of helping people remember what has been within them all along.

The wolves are not what most people expect. And perhaps, neither are you.

If the wolf has been calling to you, applications are currently open for this November’s retreat at Howlers Inn in Montana. It would be an honor to share this experience with you. Click here to see if this sacred journey is calling you.

What do wolves and animals wish you to know deeply in your heart? They want to help you remember that you are far more powerful than you realize.

Animals told me years ago, “Animals are a window to your soul and a doorway to your spiritual destiny. If you let them into your life and allow them to teach you, you will be better for it.”

Sometimes, this requires stepping out of your comfort zone and giving yourself permission for something ancient yearning within your soul to come forward – perhaps through an animal you never expected.

Wolf Blessings!

Kim
